    Bringing snus into Aus?

I'm off to Europe later in the year and have arranged a couple of days in Sweden. I always wanted to try snus so I figured this was a good opportunity. I can't seem to find much information on bringing some back with me though. All I seem to be able to find is a 1.5kg limit with "duties" to be paid apon arrival home. Anyone know how much these duties are? Is it worth hand luggaging it and just not bothering with declaration?

Last time I went to Asia I took my ecig and a bottle of juice and I was never even asked about it.

Disgraceful, I know, Homie. They tax you the same rate of tax for snus as they do for cigarettes, even though Snus is made up with around 50% water!!! Just NOT right

Us snusser types don't really know anything about Skoal and dipping, I think. Is that like the chewing tobacco that you have to purge excess spit regularly? Not my cup of tea at all! Sweedish snus is a whole different ball game.
Still, we are a diverse bunch and I'm sure someone here will know.

Cut the ends off a packet of tea bags and staple them back on to the snus?

Sounds like a lot of double handling(one of my pet hates). Maybe he should come and live in my freezer for a while!

The tax is $672/kg + GST. In 2014 I brought around 5 or so tins back in my luggage undeclared without any dramas. I did declare some food items but was waved through.

Officially you'll be able to bring back 2 tins of portions or 1 tin of loose snus and you'll be under the 50g limit. I'll also be in Sweden mid year and I'm gonna try it on with a couple rolls, may try posting some back also, for the hell of it.

Skoal is probably 1.2oz net weight if they're the same size as the Cope or Grizzly I have in the fridge. I'm not sure they sell dip in Sweden anyway, plenty of snus but I can't recall seeing any dip last time I was there. You're better off with snus, dip tastes crap :P

I got back from my Scandinavian tour about 2 and half weeks ago. I brought back 3 rolls of portions in my luggage and posted a roll of loose the day I was due to leave. Customs waved me through after declaring the cheese and caviar paste I had with me and my parcel arrived successfully about a week later.

Expect to pay around 450 to 550 kronor for a roll in Sweden. A little more expensive than ordering online but with Australia Tax added, savings soon blow out. So on your travels in a snus friendly country I'd recommend grabbing a roll or three for the road
