    Unsolicited Westpac Debit Mastercard

Any one else just receive a Westpac Debit Mastercard in the mail?
I'm not a Westpac customer and wondering what the deal is.
Rang Westpac and they claim ignorance (it was an offshore call centre though)
    Just curious
    cheers

Are you talking a physical card in the normal mail.

I would hand in to local branch and check to see if someone has pinched your identity

sus. very sus. i'd advise some investigating. could be a dummy one to entice you into applying for a real one? i wish some random credit card would show up in my mail box. my washing machine and fridge are making funny noises lately

I thought Aus banks had even been banned from sending you unsolicated c card applications in the mail.

Seems suspect if you ask me.

Also someone may be using your id to, 1 get a card and then intercept it or, 2 they tried to have the card sent to another address and failed.

Want to know if your email and personal info was lost in a online breach - https://haveibeenpwned.com/ Note only companies that have self reported that customers details where taken are used. So if say the bank lost your only info and didn't tell anyone this site won't be to tell you.

Keep in mind it's a debit card and not a credit card. You can only go on a spending spree with your own money. I wouldn't activate it, speak to your bank and find out how it came about. Also find out which account it is linked to. Isn't a debit card the norm these days, you just get the benefit of visa, Mastercard etc?

Well it's odd, because you can't have a DEBIT card without an account. I'd go into a branch and get them to check it out.

If it's attached to an account with oodles of money in it, you have to split it with everyone who responded to this thread. LOL

Simon will start whining about his house boat again, but don't listen.

As for my benefits, you can just send it all straight to SV. TIA.
