I am hoping that common sense prevails and instead of using HFC they go FTTP/FTTB route.

Areas originally meant to get Optus HFC transition to NBN were quietly changed to FTTP.

I feel your pain PurpleVapes. They send the internet packets via the Pony Express from here too mate.

The NBN is in this area, but everyone who has moved says that the shockingly below par local ADSL2+ is better.

I'm going to wait until I am forced at this stage... or maybe just a month before so I avoid the rush.

Anyone else noticed that the price of nbn ready modems have gone stratospheric in the last year?
If you don't have a destination, buy a houseboat, you can't get lost and you are always at home.

Killed the nails before they killed me. 10/02/15 Thanks immensely to AVFers!

Hell yeah. They should be forced to face the consequences their obvious manipulation of our system that cost us billions of dollars, crippled the country's communication future and ruined a great plan.

It will never happen. But it should.

Ruddy was always a twit... but this time he's right.

Unfortunately I'm no longer able to put up a speedtest result that kills off all other attempts to show "how awesome is my internet!"...

Had a 1.1/0.9 result that got giggles, until you noticed it was a 'G' and not a 'M'...

Now, a mere 90/90 is all I can muster.

Living Japan has some advantages, this is but one of a few so don't get all down in the mouth. I'd rather be there than here right now.

Well there's ya problem right there...

Unfortunately, living the in the land of no support, the security and compatibility issues will only get worse as time goes by.

If you want something free, supported stable, and reasonable... Ubuntu ;-)
Only problem is, some really old hardware (like 20 year old graphic chipsets) is now deprecated.

I gave up on my XP VM when things like the Joyetech firmware updates stopped running in it.
