Is anyone extracting their own flavours?

I am trying ginger at the moment, had a little taste and Oh wow it's zing Ginger.

I have noticed how ridiculously expensive non nic liquid is in Australia, I mean paying $20 for a bit of PG in 50cents worth of flavor is insane.

Anyway, I grated ginger, covered in VG and it is double boiling at the moment at 160F (sorry) in a jar with lid on not too tight.

The VG will extract the ginger flavor quite well (I've done it with other herbs), but when mixed with PG nic it's a good clean natural taste (if you like ginger)

I can imagine the same could be done with vanilla pod.

Trying a 100% alcohol extraction next week. Alcohol extract more flavor.

The result of the ginger in very sweet because of the VG, but balanced with a sour apple or pear flavour it's amazing.

Well it's worked with other herbs, the ginger is def zing! The filtering is hard though VG is hard to strain unless very warmish hot.

Vanilla Bean is the next, fresh vanilla pods scraped out YUM. Beats chemical IMO

Well, the ginger in VG is not as concentrated as store bought, but I guess I can add it as the VG part of the mix, it cost nothing to make, just the ginger and a few coffee filters.

Vapes OK mixed with PG nic and apple and pear type flavors.

Will try the alcohol extraction in future, more tedious process, but extracts more flavor.

If you want the ginger more concentrated in flavor, I'd be trying a juice extractor, put the ginget through that & add the juice to some PG, then filter it. Cooking the ginger is going to help it lose some of its flavor too.

Cinnamon and ginger goes great together in gelati form (fritz gelato anyone?), definitely interested in the process.

Just thought I would pop my head in here and say helloooo.
I have a super mellow chamomile and rose hip tea extract I made by jamming a bunch of tea leaves into about 30ml of VG and shaking it every other day for a week until I forgot about it. 3 weeks after that, I found the bottle and it tasted very nice and mellow. But kind of like a teabag, so I abandoned extracting.

I also wanted to give a word of advice and warning about heating VG. Deborah seems to be doing it the right way, but heating VG to over 280 C results in turning your happy vape goo into horribly poisonous Acrolein - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
So you have to be super duper careful and watch the temp =)

I am too lazy to make more complicated extracts, but this thread seems interesting. Keep us updated!

    Yeah it's a bit weak!
Only in hot double boiler with thermometer at 165F

Sounds like juicing it sounds good, will need a fair hunk of ginger through, thanks Noe
