Does Customs have my Vape Mail?

I've had a package containing 2x 60ml bottles of juice come from the US. According to the tracking info, it landed in Aus last month but has no more info. Just says "Shipping information approved by Australia Post". I've got a number to call but was wondering if any one else had a package take this long to clear.

You should certainly have it by now. It must be hiding in Sunshine West.

Overseas tracking often shows it as landed before it actually gets here. USPS scan ahead.

"Shipping information approved" (or received) means Austpost know about it but they haven't scanned it. That's not completely unusual for Sunshine West, and especially not for the new Austpost parcel services. They call it "Fastrack" but I don't know why... It's not particularly fast, and it very often doesn't track until the morning it's out for delivery.

By all means lodge a query with Austpost customer service. I recommend you lodge a support ticket through the Austpost website as for a query or undelivered package. I've found it's the most hassle free method to deal with it and you usually get a reply within one working day. I don't know of that includes weekends though.

My money is on Sunshine West too.

One of the functions of Sunshine West is that it is a breakup centre for interstate/international mail, i.e. Mail from interstate/overses arrives there an is sorted into bags to be sent directly to the delivery office.

On Tuesday an express article was posted to me from suburban NSW. I thought I would check the tracking on Thursday to see if there was any idea of where it was. It was in Moriac, a small town some 60km's from my delivery office.

Surprisingly it did arrive yesterday. It should have arrived Thursday but for some reason Sunshine West were able to miss-sort a parcel that weighed near a kilo, over a foot long and express to boot.

That is the kind of shit you're up against.

What a lot of people do not realize about express post is that your delivery point to receive over night service, has to be in an express post delivery area. A lot of people living in large county towns and I mean large, are mystified to find that their town is not serviced by express post overnight. The other point to note that an eparcel and a flat rate satchel seem to travel at different speed. I sell a few things on fleabay occasionally and find that if I can get it into (the largest 5kg) satchel not only does it travel faster and cheaper than if I sent it by cubic calculation.

This discrepancy in pricing of sending an item of the same weight and content is beyond my understanding. Recently I sent a 4.5kg parcel to a rural location in NSW Express Post. The cubic cost was $56.00 and the Satchel price for the same cubic size and content was from memory $26.50 (Using Au Post Click and Send)

Having visited Sunshine West a few times while living in Melbourne I would say two things:

    1) I would hold out much hope of your parcel making it out alive.

    2) If I was your parcel I'd want to get on the first Postie van out of there. So if your parcel has a kind of its own it could be anywhere.

In all seriousness I hope you get your vapemail soon!
