Precautions in promotion of e cigarettes for smoking cessation in Bangladesh
? That makes little, if any, sense.
    More irrelevant than yesterday

Smokeless from 10/02/15 Thanks immensely to AVFers old guard!

Well I certainly don't think it means that a more precautionary approach to ecigs in Bangladesh is required.

Can I ask why you think the results prove this to be the case, Dr Aziz?

What we have found from this research is most of the e-cig users were non-smokers, that's why precautions need to be taken. Unlike Australian participants, where most of them were ex-smokers, were using e-cigs to quit smoking. In the settings of Bangladesh, it did not seem such.

What is the correlation between Australia and Bangladesh in this study? Two totally different socio-economic societies, vastly different in culture, and population. I find the distinction a curious one.

I'm sorry I don't understand. If 83% of Bangladeshis are using ecigs to quit smoking, how can there possibly be more non-smokers? Are you classifying all successful quitters (thanks to ecigs) as non-smokers, thus making up the 62% that are not dual users? I haven't done a peer reviewed study myself for over 20 years, but that sort of logic wouldn't pass the sniff test.

Wondered about this myself- like do the numbers of non smokers also include the estimate number of potential smokers in that group (ones that would have smoked had they not have taken up vaping)

(this is getting confusing- but hopefully you catch my drift)

ďBut I donít want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you canít help that," said the Cat: "weíre all mad here. Iím mad. Youíre mad."
"How do you know Iím mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldnít have come here.Ē
