Is Diacetyl (the popcorn lung) chemical still in juice?

    Hey guys,

Just doing some reading and found out about Diacetyl being in e-juice. From my reading the chemical has been linked to popcorn lung, a form of bronchitis. The chemical has been often used in flavourings, and ideally isn't designed to be inhaled, thus the potency not being known.

Noting that this chemical has been linked the juice as far back as 2009 when testing and links began to arise, does anyone know if this chemical has been removed from e-juice formulas?

If it is still in e-juice, has anyone got any suggestions for the most 'safe' of juices to use.

    Cheers,

    Patty

It tends to be used in creamy, bakery type flavours. Stay away from those if you are worried.

It is still in some, and you should avoid juices that contain Dyketones (usually in sweeter juices). If you are really worried about it, you probably should avoid juices that do not list ingredients. That's what I have concluded from my research on the topic.

Unflavoured is the safest way to go and make sure all the ingredients are certified safe.

I only vape juice with diacetyl. Popcorn lung was developed in popcorn factory workers that inhaled the dust for many years.
No vapers, last time I looked, had ever developed symptoms.
I should post with opinion puffin pic.
Cigarettes have a zillion* times the diacetyl than my vanilla custard.
Avoid if you want, as suggested above.

*not a real number, but it is in the order of 100s to 1000s.

Patty, diacetyl is found in cigarettes at 750x the amount than what has been found in some flavoured juices, but I don't hear of 100s of smokers getting popcorn lung.

But if you are concerned, just avoid the (mainly) custard notes.

FlavourArt concentrates put the results of their flavourings on their website (all FA used in vaping have unmeasurable amounts of diacetyl in them), most TFA likewise.

I use Pg and Vg from https://www.aussie-ecigs.com/collect...able-glycerine

(Pronounced as 'Euphoria') our U4EA Vegetable Glycerine and Propylene glycol is the highest quality and meets Pharmaceutical standards for your safety!

It's all certified USP/BP and the Vg is from palm oil and really nice stuff, I haven't started popping yet which is a good sign.
