    Dead Vamo

    Again, title says it all.
Noticed that all the indicators on the LCD were gently lit, barely noticable.
Increasingly frequent "Lo V" indications, fixed with swapping battery and working the buttons randomly.
Now, pffft. no lights, no response.

Cleaned it through with 95% alcohol solution, momentary fix, again dead completely.

If it still doesn't work with some concentrated glowering and harsh words I'll re-purpose it.

Remedies welcomed. Usual caveat of silly ideas incurring a gentle mocking applies.

Not being smart and don't want to incur a gentle mocking but I was wondering is it just the display that isn't working or is it not firing aswell?
Does the lo v indicate the battery is flat?
If it does are you sure your batteries are okay?

Not firing, tested on 3 known good jdbs
    lo v means flat battery
3 fresh batteries, measured and tested in other ddevices

Are you using a protected battery? Vamo is temperamental with those. Also, is the bottom spring giving enough tension to keep things nice and tight?

    Are all the threads clean.
I'm not sure if it has a bottom cap or the top unscrews but maybe make sure all the threads are clean and free of gunk so that a proper connection is made.
    and check all the terminals.
Not sure if they are brass or not but could also be a bit gunned up too.

A little off topic but if any one asks why I prefer mechanical mods I might send them to this thread.
Because I you didn't have another pv to use it could mean a trip to the shops to buy a packet of cigarettes
Backups of backups is the best advice ever.
