    Modding a Mod (KTS mechanical)

Okay got mine in the post today, and I was wondering if there are things I can do to it.

Strange question but I will explain. Are any parts interchangeable with other mods? I think someone on here has brass parts on theirs, and they look slick. Also the whole thing is chromed, would I get better performance say by removing the chrome from the switch contacts.

what are peoples thought about them, and can they be improved?

Of note the tank that came with it looks nice, but the 3 atty heads that came with it have really high resistance, I see on websites they are meant to be in the 1.8 to 2.4 ohm range, but I checked them with a multimeter and they are all reading from 4 to 6 ohms.

What volts would I use to get a decent toot out of them if I ever use the included tank?

    As always, thanks in advance.

Hey mate the tanks can be a bit hit and miss I will admit that. You are really paying mostly for the mod itself. The rest of the kit is worth a couple bucks. The value is just too good to not get the kit. There is a newer version with some brass/gold parts. I've been umming n ahing about whether to reorder what I had or get the two tone one.
With the chrome. I have been using mine as my main mod since they arrived and it is starting to show a bit of wear. The copper colour underneath looks nice and I've been thinking about stripping it all back but I've never done it before so I dont know the best way to go about it. Especially with the knurling or whatever its called.
Either way this thing has been very reliable. Never misfires. Locking mechanism is great. Taken a couple of falls like a champion.
I love mine and I hope you will as well.
i use a maxi vivi nova on mine and I think it looks great.
PS. Im not just saying that because I sell them either.

Bevoh, the one I'm talking about I bought from you. And please dont think I am knocking it in any way, I just love modding things :-D

I ask as I want to use it as my main mod, considering my Vamo has gone a bit dodgy.

I have ordered a 2c fuse as I only have unprotected batteries, then I will be using the KTS as my main vape.

And if you get the 2 tone ones, I might be forced to get one, that would be a shame wouldnt it..

So if they are brass underneath the chrome, anyone know how to strip it?

Edit: seems stripping chrome is easy http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Chrome-Plating

I also bought one from bevoh after seeing this thread from studiovape:

Modded CHI CHI Brass 3.9v under 0.9Ohm load

Now I want mine to be like his... Might have to ask him if he'll work his magic on mine for a price. I would do it but don't have the time these days with family duties beckoning. Got a did clone on mine and use it for an after dinner vape, still hits pretty hard for a $50 mech mod.

No worries bro, I pm'd studiovape to see if he'll take on a commission to upgrade mine. I just don't have the time to tinker like I used to.

Very nice bro, how did you remove the knurling??

Edit: did you mod the internals at all?

put two 510 extenders on the device, stuck it in a makita battery drill used a file for the knurling and a to course sand paper to remove the chrome and then copper.i still have a bit of wet and dry sanding to do yet to get the deep scratchs out.i might even try the middle extender as well, but as studio said its bloody thin.only got the mod to play with really but that atty is not too bad at all,for fifty bucks its great value.
