    The wick or the coil? A dry burn should clean the coil ... and I usually boil my atty prior to and after dry burning. This cleans the wick as well.

    I just thoroughly dry burn, probably a minute or so of red hotness. I have never boiled anything ecig related ever. I can't see the point of going to that extent on a rebuildable when it deteriorates the more it is handled anyway and can be rebuilt in a few minutes.

    Though it never gets back to white, it does get to a greyish colour and no longer has any real taste.

    What can I say, I'm tight I don't dry burn as long as you, just until it completely stops smoking. Now the reason I boil the wick is that the method of failure with the original wicks was the wick deteriorating from what I could only put down to the dry burning. So I try to minimise the dry burning and still get the wick clean.

    Stoney, if you have time, could you post a picture of your AGA-T silica wick setup please?

    Perhaps some instructions if you have extra time. I am interested in trying this setup.

    Thanks

    well thats an interesting point .. but how can a red hot wire at 700C damage a wick that can cope with 1500C ?
    I notice the wick seems to fracture, but I think its a mechanical stress .. just not sure about why ?

    they seem to last for longer in an aga-t no matter how many dry burns I do.

    ok, lets examine the logic of your tightness (me .. i am lazy)
    wick 10m .. $10 roughly
    3cm = 3c
    lets chuck in a another few cents for kanthal

    water boiling .. I am going to estimate 1500W for 15 minutes (how long you boil for)
    lets call it 1/2 a kWh .. thats about 10c
