need a question on amperage answered

hi guys, jsut got my ngp moon, the modder suggested not using any resistance that demands more than 26amps from the battery. so what is the lowest resistance coil i can build on it without having trouble?

    18650 or 18350 mode?

Either way, for your original question....

0.16154 ohms coil would be the limit for 26A @ 4.2v.

Correct me if i'm wrong with my calculations

You will more than likely hit the amp discharge rate on the battery well before you get anywhere near that, and then you have to factor in voltage drop etc etc.

10A is generally considered the safe limit for continuous use, or maybe peaking to 15A i'd say for pulsing it. (this is for the 18650's).

I'd say @ 10A @ 4.2v the lowest coil you would be wrapping would be 0.42ohms. And even then you aren't even getting 4.2v... i'd say it'd be more like 3.5-3.8v @ that low of a coil... which would mean 0.35-0.38 ohms... but that's the absolute limit tbh...

Yap.... i'd say 10a would be the limit and that's being pretty risky even then...

Myself? I'd keep it @ 0.5ohms to be safe

Brilliant. So sub 1ohm is fine? Good good. Was worried.

Well yer... but looking at that mod, it seems like there's a button on the side ala orion... depending on the switch it may not have a 10a capability... So i'd say the lowest point of failure would be either the button, or the battery... and that'd be a fairly high amperage anyway... so yes... sub 1ohm SHOULD be fine...

    Oh, yes thanks stoney!

10A is on the assumption that you are using IMR cells (aka aw 18650, or CGR18650CH cells).
