So, are the Panasonic batteries the new go to battery for mech mods?

As we know the AW IMRs are the staple battery for mods, revered for their reliability and performance.

Lately I've been using the Panasonic CGR18650CH batteries and they've been performing great. But I've noticed that two other Panasonics have recently become widely available, the NCR18650B and NCR18650PD. Looking at test results they seem to both outperform the AW IMR in terms of both battery life and reliability. They also don't exhibit the voltage drop off that AW IMRs have below 3.2V, not that you would probably go that low anyway.

    See reference: AkkuDB

Test results are for 5A draw. If you're using Chrome with automatic translation, turn it off to see the scales and labels.

well i have a set of NCR18650B's on their way to me from SS, so i cant say if they are better than the fabled AW IMR's, but from reading the blurb on SS's Ebay site, they seem to be very good performers and I quote

"This is the highest capacity, highest quality, most reliable with the lowest PCM resistance, protected 3.6/3.7 volt 18650 lithium ion battery in the world."

From memory the NCR18650B are a protected version of the older ones.

Been using them in my vamo, iGo-W with dial coils (1.8 Ohm ) at 12W they last me about 2 days/battery

I'll take the NCR18650B thanks. (I dont really need that high drain capacity, but noted should I find a need)

The Pana. CGR18650CH is rated @ 10A with 2250mah, more than enough power to drive even the most demanding sub ohm genny on a mech mod.
A 30A rating is not needed for even the most demanding vaper/PV, so with a 1600mah rating the Sony gets owned by the Panasonics with a 2250mah rating.
The Sanyo UR18650FM, rated at 2600mah is a good, cheaper alternative to the CGR18650CH, with a slightly better mah rating, these are really Panasonics in disguise, since Panasonic make both brands.

Oh & AW do not make batteries, they simply buy & rebrand batteries.
