    Kay's Gripper Question - answered

    A long time ago, in a thread far away...
    Our beloved little spammer-who-could, Miss Kay asked a question, or at least posed an observation that demanded an answer.

    Smok VV Gripper

    The thing was, this little device is great in many respects, but we were finding we had to set the volts to 3.0 or 3.1 for standard clearos or risk the dreaded 'burning taste'

    Some Stoney ECD Meter data;

    Precise+ 10440

    Linear Vin = 3.633 V
    Iave = 1.428 A
    Pave = 5.187 W
    Resistance = 2.464 ohm

    Provari V2 @3.8v

    Linear Vin = 3.825 V
    Iave = 1.501 A
    Pave = 5.741 W
    Resistance = 2.468 ohm

    Stabilising..
    Gripper @3.0v

    PWM Vpeak = 5.702 V Vave = 3.073 V Vrms = 4.162 V
    Ipeak = 2.300 A
    Ppeak = 13.114 W Ptrue = 7.068 W
    Resistance = 2.399 ohm
    Duty Cycle = 53.90 % Freq = 50 Hz

    Observations;
    • I need to charge my 10440
    • The provari is pretty right, setting to actual
    • The Gripper is accurate, but AVG volts, not RMS.
    • The Gripper set to 3.0v is putting out 4.16V RMS, the upper limit for standard resistance clearos.
    Phew, question answered, now onto to next in the backlog.

    I am glad you found some entertainment with Windoze 8. To much fluff and tinsel for a grumpy old bastard like me.

    Nice results though.

    oh, mrg, that is fantastic it explains to me why I don't use the grippers as much as I thought I would. subconsciously, I think I have been avoiding them, even tho I love how they fit in my hand, just because I was getting too much power from them. I will make sure I only use them for my carto tanks, which I vape at a higher power setting than clearos. it kind of felt a bit hit and miss before, but now I know exactly what to expect from them. tyvm

    Kay, YVW.
    Knowing this, I also feel more comfortable using the gripper with carto/tanks which we use at 4.1v, therefore all good now
