Ordered Smok Scar RDA, new to rebuilding

This will be my first RDA and should arrive soon, so I'd like to get some basic advice on gauge of wire, number of wraps, width of wick. I'll be using this thing on my brand new Innokin SVD, which I believe will fire with no less than 1.3 ohm coils, so I'd like to aim for 3 to 4 ohms for each coil, giving 1.5 to 2 overall.
I actually posted this same question to the FastTech forums and got one reply (below), but I'd appreciate second opinions.

    The reply I got was:
28 awg kanthal or 0.1x 0.5 bakero wire 4/5 wraps
2mm silca/eco wool doubled to make yes 4mm
or cotton 2mm braid, more flavour with this, but you cannot dry burn keep wet always..

    Thanks!

4-5 wraps of 28 guage kanthal wouldn't get you to to hit 1 ohm let alone 3-4.

If you havent built a coil before, I would recommend starting with a single coil and getting it right a few times before attempting dual coils.

Yeah my plan was to start with a single coil, but I wanted to know what materials I'd need for a dual coil build which is what I'm aiming for ultimately

32 awg kanthal with 7-8 turns on 2mm silica should give you above 3 ohm but you should test it. I normally build on 28 awg with 8-9 turns on 2mm which normally give me 1.9-2.1 ohm. Wrap the wire on 2mm screw driver will be easier on turns. Remember to oxidize the wire and wipe off the oil and chemicals from the factory first. I just torch it on lighter and wipe off the black stains with tissue. Some local vendors have pretty good kanthal wire and silica/ekowool.

I think I read it somewhere. If you double 2 of 3 ohm coils it will gives you 1.5 ohm dual coil build.

If you're planning on using your rda with a vv device, I'd recommend microcoils.. That way you'd be able to vape at a high ohmage whilst maintaining the "feel" of a lower ohmage setup

You can get 100 feet of kanthal for about 8 bucks off ebay

You should make sure you have:

    28 or 30g kanthal,
    nail clippers
    small screw drivers
    butane torch or jet lighter
    tweezers
    paperclips
    youtube
    multimeter or ohm checker
    your wick of choice

Enjoy Post pics of your coils !

I read somewhere that microcoils are pointless with silica wick because it doesn't wick efficiently enough, what do you think?
At any rate I think I need to get some success with basic coils before I attempt a micro, but it's something I want to try.

Okay, so my shopping list is wire, wick, butane torch. I have the other stuff, but I'm worried my multimeter isn't accurate enough for lower resistances. It was an impulse buy from supersports600 (this one) when I was ordering batteries and a recharger, accuracy didn't occur to me.

I will take some pics, but depending on the result I might be too ashamed to post them!

Depends on the ohms in your micro-coil & the diameter of your wraps. A micro with larger diameter wraps can take more wick through the micro-coil so a 2.5mm - 3.0mm wrapped micro can use silica to wick with & the silica will keep up because there is more wick to transfer the juice through.
The type of silica being used makes a difference too, the cheap junk won't wick as well.
