    Hi Cdan,
Depends what you want to build the coil for. What sort of device ? Not being smart with my question, just that there are different coil builds for different devices.

Also what altered has suggested .... YouTube is a good place to begin with, but make sure you type in the search what it is for, eg. Evod coil rebuild, 3.1 coil build, atty coil build etc etc.
    Cheers

Make sure you have an ohm meter and understand how to use it, Also make sure you are using decent batteries. Just my opinion but I think drippers are the easiest thing to learn on. ( I am sure others will disagree)

There are things you should prepare for rebuild your own. The followings are my 2 cents opinion:

    Atty
Buy an atty of your choice. There are basically 3 types mostly available. There are more complex one but at this moment get a most common one so you can find tons of info and support.
    1. Top feeding dripping style atty (Eg IGO-L); Bottom feeder atty (Eg. Cyclone BF) needs a bottom feeder mod (such as Reo) to work with
    2. Genesis style atty (Eg RSST)
    3. Atomiser tank (Eg Kayfun)

    Wire
    1. Kanthal wire
    2. Nichrome wire
    3. Ribbon style wire

Personally I prefer kanthal wire but you should try to find your fav one. You need a lighter or torch to oxidise the wire.
There are sizes of wire and I recommend you start on 28 gauge first. You will need something like a blunt needle tip or drill tip to wrap the wire on.

    Wick
    1. Silica wick (preferable for Atomiser and dripper style atty)
    2. Cotton wick (preferable for Atomiser and dripper style atty)
    3. Cotton ball wick (preferable for Atomiser and dripper style atty), If you do not want to boil the cotton balls, the 100% sterilised cotton balls are recommended
    4. Stainless Steel wick (preferable for genesis style atty)
    5. Ceramic wick (preferable for genesis style atty)

    Other tools may be required
    1. Wire cutter (or use nail clipper)
    2. Small screw driver (phillip and flathead)
    3. Resistance checker (ohm metre)
    4. Tweezer (the coles one will do - use for coil fixing mainly but it is handy to have it around)
    5. Drill + bits for metal drilling (only if you want to drill the air hole out to your preference)

    Battery and Safety
    1. IMR or Hybrid battery (high drain batteries are recommended)
    2. Vape Safe Fuse (I personally recommend this for additional safety)

*. Always check for shorts on your build before vaping. Watch out if your mod's firing button gets hot, this is the common sign of a shorted coil. if you want to go sub ohm vaping, always make sure safety comes first before the plume production.

Really depends what device and atomizers you are going to use. YouTube can't be beaten for tutorials.
