Get some Plastikote "Super Clear" spray from Masters.

I use it on heaps of stuff for a clear coat. Computer case modding (steel and plastic), wood stuff when I want a maintenance free finish.

If anyone is worried about removing it if you have to on metal. Rub a spot with some acetone and it melts down to the metal.

You should then be able to get a fingernail underneath edge of the coating and peel it off all round.

I've just ordered some last night, more to experiment with it as a wood finish though, I will try it on some copper and brass .
I just cant see how a wipe on finish will be completely self leveling in such a thin application though, we'll see.
