    Lithium Battery shipping to Australia

    Hi guys,

Not sure if this belongs here. I'm not really after doing a massive co-op to be honest.

I found a vendor willing to ship a few Black AW ICR123A batteries to Australia from the US. Many other overseas vendors I've tried are simply not accepting overseas orders for batteries. He's willing to ship to Australia using services such as DHL.

The USPS new rules on Lithium batteries is that they cannot be shipped unless they come with the device they are used in, and only the amount necessary to work per device unit. I believe DHL can provide shipping of batteries without purchasing a device for each battery, but I believe DHL is going to be a bit more expensive than USPS.

The guy is getting some quotes for me. I told him others may want to get some too, so I'm seeing if anyone wants me to purchase some for them. I've only inquired about the black ones, but they do have red ones in stock. I'm only getting a few until local vendors get some in stock.

The US vendor wants to know how many batteries are going to be sent over. Could you guys let me know if you're interested. If the demand is really high, maybe someone can start a co-op for these batteries. He hasn't said exactly how many he can supply, but I'm sure he'll let me know.

Each battery is selling $9.44 AUD when I calculate the current exchange rate, but I'll wait for the quotes. Let me know if you're interested.

The battery I'm talking about: Black AW ICR123A

You don't buy AW batteries from the US LOL. You buy them from AW direct in HK, otherwise you risk getting fakes!
If you want to buy them and Andrew is happy to sell, contact him in this forum thread AW's LiIon Batteries Sales Thread *Part 12*

It's going to be surface postage, so on boats though and will take a while.

I wasn't aware that we should only buy them directly from AW. The US vendor seems to be legit though. This is only a quick and temporary solution to get a device working until local vendors get them in stock. I've used DHL before and they usually deliver quickly sometimes in about a week. Should I be cautious about buying from local vendors also? You got me scared now about fakes.

Many local vendors that have bought from the US or China have got fakes in the past.
The saying goes, the only person who makes a profit selling AW batteries, is AW themselves. There's no way an overseas vendor can buy from him, recieve batteries by boat, and then sell at a lowish price from the US to Australia (and take the risk air mailing them too these days) and make a profit/be cheap for you when postage costs are included.

You should be cautious when buying from local vendors too unless well known AW/battery sellers. I can personally vouch for ecigmodshop, and supersports600(posts on AVF forums and ebay) but that's it (used to be able to get them from vapebar Perth too, but they closed)

$9.44 is about the same price range for all the other vendors. This will strictly be a legit transport with DHL. I'm willing to fill out any proper forms to get them here. Its just a temporary solution rather than waiting another 2-3 months. I should note that this is isnt a vape shop. This store sells highend torch lights. Just not sure if I should post the store up publicly in case a surge of people bombard him with emails. If he has the stock, and is willing to ship them, then I'm getting a couple of batteries for myself.

Maybe I should contact AW to check if they sold to this store just in case?

Would be a good idea, maybe at the same time ask for any local supplier he had shipped them too (might be a specialist shop that is not a vape shop, out there somewhere that doesn't have much of an internet presence or useful SEO - eg trade suppliers.)
