Personally I found that more than using fancy cotton, it's important to have the right diameter roll to the cotton (not too tight/compressed), length (it's ok to be long - laying on the base then up and loop it around the terminals - like silica builds), the way most important part is the have clean clean hands.
Any oil and stuff on your skin is going to ruin the cotton when you roll and compress it, making it not wick as well.

If that doesn't work for you, fell free to try fancy organic, sterile, japanese cotton, or rayon or whatever. I know I have never needed that to stop dry hits. Just need a good build and clean hands...

    adjust the amount of wick.
am on 1.0 Ohm on all 4 of my kayfuns, from a 3.1 to a lite to a lite plus ( x2 ) and they all work flawlessly.
    different wire though

Dual nano with cotton try that works great but can dry hit very rarely
But the other suggestions are a bit better

Not quite sure if you already build on 3.1 with no issues... ? I have both as well, and a (nearly) identical coil setup to you... No probs at all. Only way it can run dry is if cotton blocks the channels, it's twisted too tight or packed too tight through the coil. I just place the cotton tails on the deck set back slightly from the juice channels.

yeah, well i've been using my 3.1 for ages, always wash my hand before coiling and before wicking. I'm using organic japanese cotton, rayon wool and everyday cotton, ive wicked it and coiled excatly like my 3.1 and i never have a dry hit with that, I was just surpised that i couldn't get the build right, i was thinking it was my wick but i've since put a smaller piece of cotton in.. I'll have a play
Seems it only dry hits every 3-4th hit but once the juice level drops a bit its fine?

Thanks for everyones recommendations, ill have a look at that link

I'm thinking its my airflow, might move my coil up a tad, everything else seems like it should work flawlessly
also i might try a bigger coil and more or less cotton and see how that works out for me, i usually dont have any problems but im being stupid lately
