Have I shorted out my battery?

First post hello and thank you for any help you can give.

Bought some V2c5 they came with solar tabs, when I tried to twist them off the pliers touched the + side of the battery and sparked.

    Have I shorted the battery?

Is this battery still safe to use?

    TIA

a Quick spark, light touch - without a continuous short ? Should be alright.

but yes you've shorted the battery. what damage you've done, I'm not sure. By the sound of it, you'll be ok.

Just be sure to keep an eye on the battery in question. It's probably fine to keep using, but be sure to check it's voltage after charging and after use and make sure it's charging to 4.2V (depending on your charger) and not discharging too low and too quickly when in use.
