Will my Istick survive it's bath?

Well silly me gave my istick a bath. I had my istick in my hand and went to pick up a glass of water. Dropped it in but only for a second or two. Water went about 2/3rds of the way up just under the button.

I immediately took it out and immediately dried it. It worked for a couple of button presses then died.

I've placed it in a glad bag filled with rice in the hopes of it coming back to life like you do with mobiles.

So guys, will it come back and will it be safe to use?

You should've left it to completely dry before using it. It would've been fine then.

You've probably shorted it now though.

Dropped my mobile in the toilet once upon a time.

Managed to get it working again but when I replied to a text message it would go to someone random off my contact list.

Was entertaining but not very practical.

The odds of it working once completely dry inside the iStick were probably 90% or more before you pressed the button but I suspect the odds are more like 10-20% now. Hopefully something non-terminal bridged on the last press (when it died).

You can only try rolling the dice again once it's completely dry. The water damage really comes from the impurities in the water rather than the water itself. Often a spray with some contact cleaner and a scrub with a soft toothbrush will resurrect things but not if something has blown internally.

Fresh water isn't as bad for electronics as salt water as long as you can disconnect the battery ASAP.

My advice would be to open it up.

Very happy to report that after 24 hours in rice, my istick is working perfectly. Have put it on charge and all is good in my istick world.
