    Thinking of getting into rebuilding would the kayfun v4 be a good place to start

    yeah honestly i would hit up a kayfun lite - cheaper and possibly less fiddly for you. Since you are just getting into it or thinking about it - the price of a kayfun 4 may not be worth it in my opinion.
