Something has gone wrong with my mech mod...help

    Hi all
I have this chi yu mod that has been a real trooper for the last 6 months or so but when i put a fresh battery in it tonight and gave it a go, all i got was was a burnt plastic taste, and it got very hot in a short space of time.
Tried another battery and had the same result.
    Any ideas?

something has shorted, given the burnt taste I'd say within the atomiser.

stop trying to use the mod until you solve the short.

    Hard short on the atty.

    or an accidental firing?

little to go wrong with a mech

interesting that it worked alright on another mod and didnt taste burnt

maybe that means the atty is shorting on the chi you top cap - the way its connected to the top cap? ive not used chi you style of mod but i'd pull apart the whole thing and clean it and have a look at the way the pin and 510 connector on the tank is connecting to the top cap and whether something is shorting

also maybe put a kick in the mod when u come to test it - so you dont keep going thru batteries

If you need a mech until you get a new one I live in edwardstown. I threw out all my clones when I finally got some better quality stuff but I got a sneaking suspicion there's a Manhattan clone lying around somewhere. I'll have to look first when I get home but offers there If I indeed find it

We do not hate as long as we still attach a lesser value, but only when we attach an equal or a greater value.

Sorry for late replies and thanks for the offer JD, but im good.
I pulled apart the factory fitted 0.5ohm coil and found that the positive lead coming through the bottom of the coil head had burnt through the rubber insulator.
How it worked on the second mod i don't know.
    Anyway, problem resolved
