    WARNING: Too Much Heat & iStick . . .

Yes -I know - I should have been more careful !

Backstory - the threads on my iStick 20 W were shot - too many attie changes . . . so . . being a "fix-it" kinda bloke - I had ordered some Fat Daddy Vapes 510 's for other projects - ordered an extra low profile one to fit to the iStick . . .

Drilled & tapped the old one out - cut off the remaining 510 outer so the locking nut for the FDV would fit - soldered +ve to new. flexible wire - fitted 510 -ve - went in sweet - issue I had was the brass -ve washer was moving around - so I thought I'd braze / solder it to the top cap - . . .. ..

Out comes the blow torch . . . BIG MISTAKE . . . . the top cap is made of Tin Foil ! LOL !

    The Result

    Now . . . . I still have a functioning iStick - and the FDV . . . . Anyone got a dead iStick / Dead Thread iStick 20w that they were going to chuck out ? I'm looking for a top cap - thread / 510 condition not important . . .. Drop me a PM . . .

    TIA

We all have tin foil hats at aussie vapers.
    I'm wearing mine now.

    Thanks for the warning.
I'll try to stay at least a thousand kilometers away from it.
    I should be safe.

Die-cast more than likely..................Goes from solid to a puddle in a nano second

Die-cast would also be the reason the threads shit themselves as it is very soft
It can be soldered with the right materials but as you have found control of the heat input is critical.

    Cheers
