Question Good way to separate Silicone seal from Pyrex tanks

What's a good way to separate Silicone seals from Pyrex tanks?

I have several Kanger Mega Aerotanks with a seal (a rubbery, almost clear substance) that plugs the gap between the Pyrex tank and the top metal plate that holds the drip tip.

I chipped the glass of the tank and had a spare glass cylinder, so I went to disassemble the top part of the tank for the first time (probably after around 6 months constant use). Separating the seal from the glass proved difficult though. At first I thought it was glued in, but after experimenting with it all around the top, I found a few places where it obviously wasn't glued. But some of the other parts of the seal were stuck so tight that I ended up partially ripping it.

I have an ultra-sonic cleaner (with heating) but did not think to try it in that before separating the two. Is that a good way to loosen a 'welded in' seal? Are there other ways to loosen them?

you could try hot water and letting it soak for acouple of minutes. The sonic cleaner doesn't get that hot. I think with the hot water , the expansion of the glass will release it.

I would be tempted to go the cold route. Those silicon orings get sticky when warmed or heated. Same thing happens on the splash tanks. I rip off and replace with new orings when it happens so not much help.
