    High tensile kanthal?!?

I bought some rebuilding supplies off someone recently who had no joy making their own coils. I can actually understand their frustration as I can't build with the wire they had either. It's like bloody fencing wire. You don't so much "make coils" with it, as you do "make springs".

    Anyone else seen this before?

Lower guage wire. Think I've read about some muppets going as low as 22 guage. It quite literally is fencing wire

This stuff is 28 gauge, but it's as springy as hell. Might have to do up a little demo vid of this crazy stuff.

    Tempering it first doesn't help?

Have you heated the wire and is it still springy?
Wind it with a lower I.D kuro coiler.
Try 2mm if you want a 3mm ID.

Hadn't tried tempering it first.... never needed to before, but that's a great idea. Will report back when next I try it.

I always temper my wire first; takes the tension out and burns off any impurities on the wire ...
