Provari + Kayfun: am I missing out not having the classic greats?

    Hey fellas,

I've started doing this not long ago and went after gear that was reviewed the most recently.

Got in touch with a mate in the US and it turns out he vaped for about 4.5 yrs just that it was never a talking subject.

According to him a must have is a provari and a kayfun, that for a flavor chaser they're the pinnacle. The thing is they're both 3+ yrs old and in a fledging industry improvements come thick and fast.

I don't mind the spend but call me a sceptic and for the price of this combo I could have an RX200, several Crius', batteries etc or enough juice to drown in.

Any vaping vets here use these products?

In vaping, as in many things, this week's "must have" and "classic" is next week's paperweight.

Firstly - provari/kayfun is a great combo. Can't really go wrong there

Secondly - if you put up a wtb for both, you'd get them at good prices as they are older tech.

Provaris are a workhorse mod. They just keep on working. Kayfuns are easy to build and give a great vape. It all depends I guess on whether you think high wattage is necessary to get a good vape. I vape on a reo mech squonker with a small chamber atty with a single coil at about 0.8 ohms. Cracking vape from start to finish of a 6ml bottle on one battery. I don't need high wattage. Never have.

I still go back to a Nautilus with vertical coils a lot. On around 10-15w I enjoy...is "sipping" the right word..but I enjoy a tankful of flavours like desserts and tobaccos. For the fruits and menthols is sub-ohm all the way.

The thing is everytime I change flavours on the Naut I rinse the tank and change the coil. I'm sick of having a bunch of wet coils labeled "Custard" or "Ry4" or "Steamer's reserve" etc, just messy.

A Kayfun would allow me to rinse, burn off and rewick on SS316.

Edit alternatively I could get 6 aspire premium kits each with a different flavour and sit it in a cigar box =D

I had this combo and honestly, I thought the Provari was a bit over-hyped.
Yes it works well but it does have limitations. I sold mine about a month after I bought it and stuck to mech mods.

I'll agree that the Kayfun/Kayfun lite/Russian 91 is still right up there for the non-fogbank brigade.

I've had my 91 since they were released and have hammered it daily. Still havent had to change an o-ring even. Very tough and durable , never leaks even with 100% PG and vapes very well.

In terms of flavour my Bellus is amazing, but a number of other perversions that mean that the old Ruski would be what I grabbed if I had to GTFO in a hurry!

So they perform a bit like a rebuildable nautilus?
There's something about the skinny drip tip and tighter draw that makes the nautilus better with some juices. Basically I'm looking for a setup that's tube like, runs well and tastes good without belching out a heap of vapor

A P2 or P2.5 with a Kayfun Lite or Russian 91%, will not set any smoke alarms off.
But you will as sure as hell taste your juice.

Is the taste better than a dripper?
Yes in some cases it is, and in other cases it isn't.

It depends on how much air is diluting the vapour.
More air = huge cloud = less flavour.

Because you will be getting less air, the draw will be tighter.
But not as tight as a long forgotten analogue.
Note analogues are blowing less smoke now, for more punch.

Are you missing out on something, not that much.
A Lemo bolted on a iStick is similar.
It wont last as long, but the vape is similar.

The difference between a Naultie & a Kayfun is noticeable.
But the first is easier to fill & change a coil.
Unless you can feel & taste PWM, a volt is a volt.

If you want a classic get a classic.
But remember you have to taste a rough red to appreciate Cab Sav.
