    Authenticating a Rose V2-S

    Howdy,

Just academic question for those vaping vets out there, is there a reliable way to authenticate Eden Mods Rose V2-S RTAs?

Received one from FT and another purchased here.

Both came with a PC tank but not the steel section.

Yet according to EM they specifically come with both the SS & PC tanks.

Dimensions and threading are the same but that's expected with clones.

In the end I could take a stroll to a friendly high school Chem teacher and test whether the alloy is SS316 vs SS304 however I was hoping for a simpler way.

    Thanks all

Just guessing here as I am not a Rose owner but have looked at them a bit

True Mod should come with SS stand that has the same finish as the atty and doesnt show tool marks etc ?
https://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/f...t.88476/page-5 <-- there is a guy here who compares the two a little

Most clones also use a cheaper less defined laser engraving

And both my Evil Rose Clones, come with a "SS stand that has the same finish as the atty and doesn't show tool marks".
Unfortunately I don't have the Real Steel, to play spot the differences !?!
Maybe the juice flow control/mouth piece, isn't as stiff on the Real Deal?

Nope both stiff, the clones engraving is lighter.

On the ohm meter with equal wires the clone has a higher resistance.

Real one whistles on draw (same way P Busardos did.)
Mystery of the SS 1/2 tank solved, now on its way.

I really feel for the authentic producers. Being low volume I can guarantee that their machines are less sophisticated and pretty much anything they try to do to mark an authentic can be matched.

Double blind I can't taste the difference.

Eden Mods should have got these guys to release an official clone for them.
With stamped on the bottom "Made in China" in Chinese characters.

Another good way to tell is to check the orings. China orings are generally shite and they rarely use anything close to the quality Eden Mods or other high end modders use. I dont know why to be honest as it would add cents to the final cost when they are producing stuff in 10's of thousands.

Also goes for the insulators and the quality of the brass pins. Until recently, China didnt use peak insulators in just about anything.

Eden Mods generally stay ahead of the cloners. Whether that is due to small quantity batches, updates/improvements each batch, overall popularity or the fact that production stays alot closer to home than many of the other modders make out these days.

My Rose V2 which was upgraded to the stumpy whenever those parts came out, is in as good a condition as it was new 2 years ago including the orings and insulators and it has had alot of use over the years. Id very much doubt the clone would last half as long especially with the acidic juices I generally vape and the questionable grade of stainless they could have used.

Another test, would be to soak them in water for a few days and see if either rust especially around the threading, grub screws, etc.

I dont think they are too worried about the clones as they know there target market and dont flood it, innovate and improve things between batches, keep production close to home which unfortantely keeps the prices high, are very active within the community and have a good following. There is only a few other modders on a similar level that Ive seen.

If you have a good set of scales, it might be a idea to check the weights.
I think Nickel plated Chinese-ium is lighter than 304 SS.

Should be stuff all, the diff is 2% molybdenum. Can do a rub, HCl the Sulfur dioxide test.

I might try it with bottom of the bases. There's no one to one clones in 316 that I know of.

Still pretty impressed with both. And worked well first build too.
