LOL, must have been someone else. Wasn't me!

ALL of it is still way safer than smoking. You can fry titanium until it goes white, you can dry burn nickel until it gets too thin, you can etch Kanthal with acids (I'm not sure that's actually a thing BTW - it definitely wasn't me, maybe some other geek: the place IS full of them) and you'll STILL be at least 95% safer.

No one is saying it's completely harmless. The only completely safe way to vape is not to vape, right? Personally I have no intention of giving up vaping nicotine, the obvious benefits I'm happy with, the possible benefits regarding staving off age related nervous system diseases I'm only too happy to accept. The evidence for this is still experimental, but the evidence so far is probably *greater* than 5%. Looks like win/win/win to me.

Experiment 2: put Kanthal wires in a strong mixture of citric and malic acids and see if I can etch them...

    PS: you're not smoking
Sometimes I think we forget that we lit a stick on fire and inhaled the fumes 20 or more times a day. I used to roll a smoke after doing metal fabrication and might have all sorts for junk, dirt, solvents, paints etc on my hands and didn't give merry F what I was inhaling. Amazing...

That is a very generous offer Doggie and I really appreciate it.

In the interests of trying to simplify reaching my goal without furthering the title of this thread I think I am going to try 22 gauge kanthal and stainless steel and do some hands on experimenting instead of just filling my head with more options and continually finding more doors opening each time I think I'm opening the door to finding a simple happy place.

Thank you very much for the offer though!

Hi Cat, 30 to 40 watts in my mind is for a coil about 0.4 to 0.5 ohms. I started sub at 0.5 and generally ran with about 30 watts, any more the vape got too hot for my liking.

I always recommend SS as it can be used in TC and wattage modes and really has no effect on flavour. It is quite good to work with as well. Reckon if you got 24 gauge you could easily make coils for your target wattage. 7 or 8 wraps, ID 3.0mm would get you about 0.4 which would work well for 30 to 40 watts.

Yes Cat I get ya, took me a while to settle on just 3 mods and tanks yet I have and my vaping nirvana has arrived. All I buy now is batteries, Pg,Vg and the occasional T-Shirt.
Wallet health is just as important as your own health, There are lots of people getting wealthy off vapers and the very clever marketing combined with the increasing popularity of forums feeds the gravy train. There's countless devices to use but they all heat a juice soaked wick for the same result.
You already have all you need now you just have to experiment with ratios, nic levels and airflow to find ya sweetspot, and of course a few flavors that you really like.
Forget about all the marketing hype and ignore the big egos so you can concentrate on you.
