Spacing complex coils can almost negate the need for brushing them over with ceramic tweezers or getting them to fire correctly, simply because there's not going to be an inherent short in the coil being in contact with another wrap. I do tend to space mine and then pinch them back in when firing them so there's a small space. But of all the stupid ass coils I've made of late I'm not sure I'm going to be too short of anything spanning distances...lol.

I always wrap tight... but might try spacing on my next build. The one tiny issue I have is that both my mods tap out at 80w... so I can't get too exotic.

20amp continuous on the battery, about 0.25 ohm.. If you want to play it safe.

I got booted from a fb group for voicing the opinion that 0.07 on a mech with 20amp battery was dangerous. Even at pulse ratings and including battery sag (first fire will sag it out to 2.8v - still 40amp), and at that rating with that coil it was pulsing at 60amp before voltage sag.

Get some 28g kanthal and wrap two pieces at the same time to make a parallel coil.. 6wraps, 3mm coil.. Should come out at 0.28-0.3 ish and fire it at 55-60w.. What I'm using right now.
It's the combination of good surface area, quick ramp up and medium wattage.. I tend to build finer complex coils these days so they ramp up and aren't power hungry..

Is parallel the same as twisted?

Essentially.. However when you twist you're getting more metal per because it's bunched up.. But a twisted wire with 5-7 wraps will work just fine! I used to swear by it a long time ago.. Lol

Oh. Google is my friend. Two bits of wire together... but not twisted. Got it.
