    What is a 40/0.20.8 coil

    Hey all was looking at purchasing some more lightening vapes wire and im going to get some ss40/ 228 fused clapton for my adventure into temp control. I came across some ss40/0.20.8 spools as well and im not sure what they are. Are they alien or some other coil.Any help appreciated pls tnx.

    0.2x0.8 ribbon claptoned with 40 AWG.

    Mm ok so any adv in using ribon as a core instead of round wire. Also will it make the resistance super low or much higher due to being thin.

    Dont worry i think i figured it out on steam engine didn't relize u could put ribon wire in. Looks as though it takes the resistance a touch higher.

    Low resistance. There is a lot of wire there to let the current flow through. Think of it like having a four core clapton using 0.2 thick wire.

    ETA 0.2mm thick wire is 32AWG.

    Ok so i got it now went back to steam engine and relized that thier were two setting for the ribbon wire not a .8 and a .2
    Sry about the dumb ass questions but is my first encounter with ribbon wire.

    It actually comes out quite resonable. .5 for a 3.5 id 6 wrap

    Just remember ribbon coils are much longer than round cored coils. Your deck needs to be big enough to accept 5 or 6 wraps. You also need post holes that can fit the bulk. Oh and consider the ramp up speed, you will need to up your wattage so you don't grow old waiting for it to heat up.
