    2018, Ok to trust Smok?

    Hi All,

Itís been a while, Iíve finally started to vape stuff other than Ry4 + AIOs which Iíve stayed with for 18 months.

And so, Iím looking to purchase a new high wattage mod, preferably with matching tank and a new RDA from Vandy.

First product that clicked was this:

As Aspire has never failed me.

But then scrolling around I saw:

    ..

Now that just looks awesome. Problem is dating back to late 2015, Ive had an aversion to Smok.

That said, I recognize that mass produced vape gear has come a long way during my hiatus and this could very well be a reliable (and very attractive) product.

Anyone with first hand experience with one of these?

    Thx

    Marty

Marty, the mods have left and everyone has gone - try asking on the new forum Home | vaping in australia

Personally, I wouldn't. It's SMOK - SMOK are still SMOK, even in 2018

That said, plenty of people run their gear - happily. But SMOK are still one of those places that pumps out a new mod or two each week - their gear still isn't made for the long haul. If you're after something fun and shiny to bang around for the next 3 - 6 months, sure, SMOK are fine. But if you're wanting something that'll last you the next 3 years I'd be looking elsewhere.

Where? I've sort of... err... well... I've gone back to mechs (and I'm more a small-mod single battery guy anyway) . But if I was in the market for a non-DNA, dual 18650, 200W box with a screen (not a PWM style box) - I'd be looking pretty intently at the Modefined Sirus (they're Lost Vape's non-Evolv spinoff company). EDIT : After what I've just read, Nope, not anymore. Pity... because they're quite nice looking, nice menu, and all the reviews said they were great and well built - but apparently not

The Aspire Speedster you're looking at is also a good option - their gear is still pretty positively regarded, though they are playing it really conservative on the looks front these days (as you can see!).

And I'd go join us at the new place, if you haven't already . Same people, same mods running it, no bad blood or drama or anything - we've just had technical problems and security issues with AVF that haven't been able to be resolved. Pretty much the qhole userbase has gone over, but there's a few of us hanging around both forums to pick up stragglers when we see 'em .

Edit : Ok, just read the Modefined Sirus has QC issues and auto fire issues (at least early batches). Scratch that as a suggestion.
