WTF is the deal with VV and VW

Complete noob question im having trouble wrapping my head around the purpose of Mod being VV/VW etc? wat do these functions provide? i probably wont be able to afford a fancy mod for a while and the moment i am very happy with my 900mah ego with the XXXl smoktech duel coils. (and im surprised 1 battery is lasting me almost an entire day)

Set the watts on the unit once, and the output will always match whatever you screw onto the PV.

I vaped using a similar set up for over a year, no reason it won't keep you satisfied until you can afford a nice mod & RBA to go with it.
Don't get lulled into the mod addiction like a lot of the members here are & you'll be fine

Pretty sure I saw one of Phils videos where if he screwed off an atty the watts didn't work right for the new atty & he had to manually adjust it.

so VV or VW do the same thing but do it differently. They give you control to raise or lower the power being fed to the atomiser thus changing how the liquid is vapourised. In changing the amount of power you then change the amount of vapour being produced but more importantly you change the flavour of the juice. What I have found is that there are some juices that I prefer at lower power some that taste better under higher power. I also find that first thing in the morning I want a more subtle vape but by the end of the day I want something a bit nastier.
With variable volts you are just increasing the voltage output of the battery. If you put a high ohm carto onto xx volts it will produce less vapour than putting a low ohm carto on the same volts. With variable wattage the amount of vapour will be consistent between low and high ohm cartos with the voltage being adjusted to compensate.

So from my perspective, it is a flavour control mechanism. Oh and throat hit control mechanism too.
Of course your ego battery outputs a pretty constant 3.3v which is very usable and many of us.. or at least me.. will still have ego batteries kicking around that still see regular use.

VV: controls the voltage output of the battery regardless of the resistance of your coil. Needs adjusting as you change coils.

VW: Calculates the required voltage to achieve desired power output based on the resistance of the coil. Adjusts automatically to coil resistance changes.

TL;DR - VV adjust as you go. VW set and forget.

provari v1 with a phoenix RBA 6 turns on 2.5mm wick at 1.8Ω currently with 'turbosmog' juice.

3.3v flavour ok, weak vapor, no TH, ECD meter says 5.6W
3.5v, flavour more, vapour bit better, some TH, 6.3W
3.7v, flavour ok, menthol alive, th good, 7.3W .. after 3 puffs, tastes a little burnt ..
so I will be sticking with 3.6v. when its cooler at night i find up to 3.9v is fine.

the provari will put out 3.6v as the battery goes from 4.2 to 3.3v, more or less turns on the atty, needs a different voltage or wattage. different juice will be ideal at some other voltage,
attys change as they age and build up deposits, to clean .. i rinse with water then set to 3.7v and dry burn these till clean and dry then drop to 3.4v and cook it for a while.

lots of numbers above, but all i did was adjust the voltage from 3.3 to 3,5 then 3.7 and give feedback. an ego twist would do the same, good VV starter if you want to try VV.

if you find it useful, then it may be worth considering outlay to a bigger device. an ego twist will probably not last all day.
a stock ego is 3.5v. .. depending on model, not kept up with all the changes. 3.5v would be fine with this atty too, but the first one i wound was 8 turns and 3.8Ω and needs 5.2v at times.

VV is a throttle, VW is like cruise control but you still need to adjust it, perhaps a bit less.
    In order of useful: Provari V2 and V1, vamo, eGo twist, Katana v3, Hex, Orion v2, LavaTube, eGo x 6, VMAX, 510N, Tick V2, Tick V1, noEgo 18650, noEgo 14650 , Indulgence x 2, 905 6v mod, KR808D
