    AGA-T first sttempt

I got my AGA-T today and attempted to get it going.

First thing I did was sand down the cap so the air hole lined up with the wick. I got some sandpaper and went to work. It took about 10 mins and wasn't as hard as I thought it might be.

    Here is the result:

Then I prepared the wick (3 times burn & dunk in water and 3 times VG burn off). Then I used the drill bit method to wind a coil and attach it. It all glowed evenly so I inserted the wick and it seemed fine (a few minor pokes & prods & I was ready to go). I put the juice in and fired t up again and oh no - Hot spot.

More poking & prodding and re-test. A little better:

More poking & prodding - a little better again:

To be continued - I've run out of allowed images...

So after a few pokes & prods I was happy with the way it fires:

And here is my wick & coil after a few tankfuls (yeah I'm a bit light headed):

All in all I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks again Stomp. I'm now officially obsessed with this stuff and need to get myself under control.

    Excellent post, thank you.
What process did you use to deal with hot spots?

While firing it I used a pair if fine point tweezers to poke at and adjust the coils slightly until they were glowing evenly. It's like whack-a-mole though. You get one to work that wasn't working then another one goes out. If you persist you'll get there. I think I could do a better job of winding the coils next time. I guess it takes practice.

You are now fully addicted huh? LOL
You might want to remove that fill screw & just leave it out too, it should help the wicking when the juice is lower in the tank.

There is an easier way, you are already using 1/2 of my method with the coil on the drill bit method, the other part is to use the GladWrap technique, which should give you no shorts or hotspots to iron out.

1.5-2 tanks per day for me but that is with 20-24mg/ml juice.
Most vapers drop their nic when using a genny but I just dropped the amount of juice I was going through.

From the photos, it looks like the hotter spots were on the wire where it was further from the wick. How tightly do you wrap the wire onto the wick?

When using the drill bit method, you don't wrap the coil onto the wick, it's all explained (with video) in the thread I linked above.
