Hazmat/bomb squad called to ecig battery "explosion" incident - USA

A hazmat unit was sent to an Oklahoma City apartment complex to investigate a report of an explosion; which turned out to be an ecig battery that overheated and exploded states this report.

It appears the bomb squad was also called in - understandable given recent events. Details are scant, but fire officials said the cause was the charger - whether it was a bum charger, compromised charger or wrong charger; I haven't been able to find out.

Exactly! Any lithium battery can explode. But this particular one got special attention.

Perfect timing. Just as they're about to legislate on e-cigs very shortly in Oklahoma.
