    It really all does come down to the almighty dollar, doesn't it. I know the govt has to fund things somehow, but to rely on a habit that will cause illness and death to do it seems so fundamentally wrong. Can you imagine the sorts of debates that go on between the policy makers ... one side demanding the de-normalization and demonization of smoking, while the other side screams to keep smokers puffing away so the next big publically funded project can go ahead. What the hell sort of world do we live in? It's ... I don't know what it is. I think it's kinda tragic, really.

    Quite ironic if you ask me.

    A country so obsessed with preventing people from becoming dependent on a product, that the country becomes dependent on the tax revenue from the sales of that product.

    How is this any different to Australia's dependency on the annual $7.5 billion recieved via tobacco tax?

    I'm sure Wayne Swan's Budget wouldn't be the same with out it.
