    Quit organisation!!

    Hi all,

Something that made my ears prick this morning on the 9am radio news.

They began a short story talking about e-cigarettes and the benefits while trying to give up the ciggies, and how the sales of these are exceeding $1M+ (thought it would be more actually).

They then played a short grab from a lady representing either Quit Vic or Quit Aust. I'm not sure but it was one of these.

Verbatim: "e-cigarettes are actually illegal in Australia" !!

Could someone give me some definite information on this issue please. I have thought from reading on this forum that it was illegal to sell pure or reduced (36mg/100mg) nicotine juice within Australia, but this woman who is supposed to represent people wanting to quit the darbs is telling all and sundry that Vaping is illegal? Can't get my head around this.

I'm concerned the government are going to get on board here and make life hard.

    Any thoughts?

They are not illegal in Australia.

Most people who claim they are illegal are merely trying to scare the public into avoiding the products.

Ecigs are a competitive product to Quit Organisations. Their jobs depend on suppression of the ecig market. This is nothing knew - Both tobacco companies and NRT-funded antismoking organisations in the US have been doing this for years.

Electronic cigarette devices are not illegal. Even if they did become illegal, you could easily make one from just about anything. The only thing that is illegal is the the sale and supply of nicotine containing liquids in Australia - Unless you're a major pharmeceutical company such as Nicorette who have somehow been able to avoid Australian Law to sell their liquid nicotine QuickMist product.

E cigs and vaping is not illegal in australia as far as I am aware. The sale of liquid nicotine (unless your name is Nicotinell or Nicorette) is!

Thanks, I was just surprised with this coming from a 'Quit' organisation!

Love the mouse, I wonder if I could retrofit one of my old chainsaws into a vaping beast???
