    Ecigs Are Much Safer Says National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence UK -

    Doctors in the UK are being given new guidelines;

    The guidelines, which doctors will be expected to follow, say giving up tobacco entirely is the best for health, but if that is not possible then cutting back on cigarettes does reduce the harm from tobacco.

    Nice also endorses increasingly popular electronic cigarettes, which contain nicotine rather than tobacco. E-cigarettes do not have a medical licence and cannot be prescribed on the NHS.

    The body says their "effectiveness, safety and quality can't be assured", but doctors should "advise that these products are likely to be less harmful than cigarettes".

    And now a word from the Prohibitionists :

    The link in that tweet is to a research paper that concludes ;

    Long-term follow-up provides no evidence that heavy smokers who cut down their daily cigarette consumption by >50% reduce their risk of premature death significantly. In health education and patient counselling, it may give people false expectations to advise that reduction in consumption is associated with reduction in harm.

    I kind of see prohibitionists as really crappy roulette players. They put all their money on one option, the "quit completely" colour, and they don't understand why they keep losing. Some people have tried many time to quit smoking. E-cigarettes will help them reduce, and if vaping is more welcomed in society, people will eventually quit inhaling tobacco smoke altogether.

    We need more pubs and RSL clubs to welcome vaping. Indoor Vaping Lounges will be the first giant leep in my opinion.

    the pro-vaping lobby is slowly gaining speed and momentum. there has to come a point where it completely blasts idiots like him off the radar. that mentality of either give up completely or don't even bother trying is ridiculous in the extreme, and more and more people are going to recognise that as the arguments become more blatantly unreasonable.

    NICE are definitely talking sense, as are UK ASH...we just need some of that UK sensibleness to rub off on the AUS equivalents!

    This is awesome news. Most of our Aus guidelines are based off NICE or royal colleges

    It's not about health. It's about profit. The current stupidity coming from EU makes it obvious.
