Follow-up questionnaire on electronic cigarettes - Jean-Francois Etter

    Dear Jessamine,

Thank you for having taken part, some time ago, in our survey on electronic cigarettes. Today, we would like to ask you 6 brief questions on e-cigarettes.
Your participation is important for the quality of this study.
    Please click here to answer:

    Stop-tabac: Cigarette électronique - partie 3 - 2010 03 11

We thank you warmly for your participation.

The results of the survey in which you took part some time ago are available here :

    Best regards,

    Prof. Jean-Francois Etter,
Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva, Switzerland

    -------

I answered the follow up survey and after reading his paper including the recommendation to get rid of refillable liquids I sent him the below response to contact@ and mail@stop-tabac.ch

    -------

    Dear Professor Etter,

I wanted to warmly thank you for your passionate support of tobacco harm reduction - a subject close to my heart, and my lungs!

But I urge you to please, please stop speaking against refillable liquids. Refillable liquids are important for e-cigarette use and to be honest and frank with you as someone who started using a standard two peice design with prefilled cartomizers, or catridges I think you call them, the cartomizers are crap. They do not work for long and increase cost and inconvenience of use, they also taste like filler material. They are only any good when kept constantly wet in a tank system as shown in my attached picture.

Safety concerns should be addressed with a requirement for childproof and tamper evident caps, not with the removal of all refillable liquids on the market. The packaging of other poisonous goods sold for home use should be considered when making recommendations - e-liquid is not the only poisonous item kept in users homes after all!

Thank you for reading my message and for allowing me to participate in your survey of users.

    All the best

    and so it begins.

The only way for big tobacco to take over and make huge profits is to take the liquid away from the user and supply sealed disposable cartridges.
After reading about the launch of Vuse I am really starting to question the motives of this survey and others like it.
Sure the end result maybe the legalisation of ecigs but under very strict control, maybe even the banning of Liquid Nicotine.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid........maybe not
Well at least Vaping has stopped my god awful wheezing

    OK found it

The average content of nicotine per bottle, 360 mg (20 ml ¥ 18 mg/ml), is of concern because the fatal dose of nicotine is estimated to be 30–60 mg for adults and 10 mg for children [2]. Thus, these refill bottles are extremely dangerous and should be replaced by sealed, tamper-proof, leak-resistant cartridges.

    Don't agree with that

I finally got a reply after forwarding to his university email address:

    Dear Jessamine,
    Thanks you for your message
I don’t think I have spoken too much against e-liquids

Thank you for participating in our survey
