as always we come back to the same points.

we need further studies into the effects of ecigs/vaping.

and this will lead to "proper" regulation.

If it is indeed found that ecigs/vaping provides a less harmful alternative to smoking tobacco, then it should be regulated as such.

i'm still in favour of proper regulation (with the intention of providing reliable nicotine delivery, in the healthiest/safest manner possible), marketing aimed ONLY at current smokers, and the freedom to vape as i please if the studies show it is less harmful than tobacco smoke (and i believe they already are)

Thanks for the read old dog. appreciate you bringing this stuff to our attention

Big Tobacco’s involvement in the matter only muddles things further. The industry doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to reducing public harm (or even admitting their products cause it in the first place), so in a way, Big Tobacco’s investment in the industry almost discredits e-cigarettes as just another marketing ploy.
this. absolutely. once they've totally discredited vaping, they'll be free to keep making outrageous profits at the cost of their customers' health. it's nothing short of criminal.

Yet if it shows as indeed a healthy alternative they will tax the hell out of it to make up for money lost on cigs, if only it could stay as it is right now forever >.<...

they will have to tax it to increase their revenue. however i doubt they will be able to justify the same levels of taxation...

but then again maybe they will justify it based on the fact that nicotine is so highly addictive. They may argue that the price increase will keep it out of the hands of the young

"Oh the CHILDREN!!! think of the CHILDREN GOSH DARN IT!!!!"

but in return for taxing it they will probably make it available in australia which will save us all on postage??

i just don't see this going incredibly well for us. as i've mentioned before start stocking up your freezers...at least then we'll have a bit of time before we're paying the "new" fully taxed price for nicotine.

but if they use that argument they'd have to start taxing caffeine proportionally. we get screwed either way
