Another Quitline worried about their grants

You may have seen the commercials for e-cigarettes where they glamorously depict a “healthy person” smoking at the airport or in a restaurant, which, in Florida are traditionally smoke-free zones. Why is this legal? One, government legislation always lags behind invention; and two, because technically e-cigarettes do not release smoke into the environment.

When an e-cigarette is inhaled, a small cartridge of nicotine and propylene glycol (PEG) is heated and a puff of hot gas that feels, tastes, and looks like tobacco smoke is released into the smoker. However, it is not actual tobacco smoke, rather it’s a vapor that quickly dissipates in the air when exhaled. E-cigarettes come in a wide variety of flavorings, like strawberry or cotton candy (targeting the next generation of tobacco users). Also, e-cigarettes only contain about 5-10 chemicals compared with the huge amount in traditional cigarettes. Therefore, many people are using them as a replacement for cigarettes as they transition from being smokers to becoming non-smokers. Chemicals are still inhaled into the body, and the nicotine is hitting the blood stream faster through the vapors produced. NOTE: LONG-TERM EFFECTS ARE STILL UNKNOWN!

From what I've read e-cigs are a far less efficient nicotine delivery system, especially with lower voltages/higher resistance and most is absorbed through mucous membranes in mouth/throat and not through the lungs.

Also, the tiny droplets are too big to be absorbed into the lungs as well as cigarette smoke.

    So yes KamaKaZzie, utter BS.

Besides, even it were true, nicotine was never the problem. All i gotta say is thank fk for the internet, if ecigs had come out 20 years ago they wouldn't have grown legs and these BS articles would have been believed a lot more.

Wow. How did they work out these pieces of 'information'?

"If you are smoking an e-cigarette you may be absorbing more nicotine into your system. The tobacco companies own the e-cigarette companies and their marketing campaigns tout e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool, but the fact is you are still feeding your nicotine addiction."
