    NSW Environmental Health Bulletin

I work in Local Government and this was bought to my attention. The following is an extract from the Hunter / New England Environmental Health Bulletin for October 2013...

    NSW Health Alert
    Warning on e-liquids
NSW Health is warning the community to be careful if
buying the liquids used with e-cigarettes, also known
as e-juice and e-liquid. Recent testing of the liquid
samples collected by NSW Health indicate 70%
contain high levels of nicotine that, if swallowed, are
    potentially lethal.
Nicotine is a Schedule 7 dangerous poison. The
unauthorised sale of nicotine is an offence under the
NSW Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Regulation
    2008.
NSW Health warns consumers and parents to be
particularly vigilant of small children accessing them
as they may find the contents of the liquids enticing
with many containing fruit or confectionery flavoured
    additives.
There have been reports of harm to children ingesting
the liquid in Australia and a death has been reported
overseas. The e-liquid packages often do not
accurately detail the ingredients of the liquids and do
not have any child resistant closures.
Liquids for e-cigarettes cannot legally contain nicotine
in Australia. Because they are not meant to contain
nicotine, consumers may mistakenly think they are
reducing their nicotine exposure when using these
    products.
NSW Health has written to all tobacco retailers to
remind them of the laws around selling products
    containing nicotine.

It would be very interesting to know where they got the liquids from, as this may be concerning if we are adding nic to liquids already containing nic. Unless they specifically set out to get the samples for testing from suppliers that are illegally supplying nic juice.

It would be from tobacconists selling imported Healthcabin crap.

All of the online Aussie vendors that we know don't include nic in their doublers.

I just got off the phone to NSW Health to determine if the locally sourced liquids were purporting to be Nic free... was informed the warning was based on a study in the USA that tested pre-filled cartos...

So essentially, himynameisbunny, you are 100% right!

    Talk about scaremongering!!!
