University of Queensland - Ecig research survey

    Hey guys,

I just got an email from UQ wanting me to fill out a research survey. It states towards the end this survey can be shared. I am sure everyone who chooses to fill it out will be sensible with their answers and comments at the end, as this type of survey can have really positive and negative effects for us all. Thank you.

    Dear Volunteer,

You previously entered your details into our database because of your interest in participating in e-cigarette research. We currently have an online survey about personal vaporisers open and available for you to complete if you wish. To be eligible to participate in this survey you must:

    - Be aged over 18
    - Reside in Australia
    - Have used an e-cig/personal vaporiser

Please click on the following link to access the survey:

    UQCCR - Vaper Survey

Your responses are completely anonymous and there will be space at the end for you to tell us in your own words about your experiences and opinions of personal vaporisers.

We would really appreciate your help with this important research which will give us a better understanding e-cigs in Australia. Once you have completed the survey you can indicate if you would like to receive a summary of our research results on this exciting topic.

If you know of anyone else who might be interested in participating then please forward them this information.

If you have any questions about the research or issues with the survey then please contact Doug Fraser at d.fraser2@uq.edu.au.

    Kind regards,

Doug Fraser & Dr Coral Gartner

The survey is very well thought out and asks the right questions. As many members of this forum as possible really need to take a few minutes and complete it.

There were one or two of the 'agree/disagree' questions that seemed a bit 'trick', but overall, I think it's great. A lot of qualitative stuff. I like that.

Just completed the survey, good to see 2nd and 3rd gen PVs being in the study, not just the cigalikes. I thought the same as Essie about a couple of the questions, but looked at it from the point of view that this would be used by the media and the government health depts, to try and push their own agenda, and answered honestly but with a view to not providing ammunition for ANTZ.

    Yep agreed with ^^^

The free form tell us what you want to bit was good, be interesting to see if that gets any mentions in the finalised results.

Although they stuffed up the forum URL in one of the examples (.com.au instead of .com)

I'm still doing mine. The question about "mods" had me puzzled. Did anyone else think they didn't really know what a mod is?

But yes, overall it's a good survey.

Taken ... not a bad one ... there were a few of the yes/no options where I felt there could have been better served with an "unsure" option as well
But generally I think it was a good unbiased/not-leading group of questions

Got my email today and I'm just writing the bit where I get to have my 'say'. I thought it was pretty good but there were a couple of questions where I kind of 'wondered' what they were for, but this would probably be true for most surveys. Will be very keen to see the results of this and good on these researchers for doing this, cheers Deb
