FDA stance on the long term use of nicotine relaxing

Interesting article published by the US FDA on

    a) Using NRT in conjunction with smoking or other nicotine products and

    b) Longer term use of nicotine

Nicotine Replacement Therapy Labels May Change

    (April 2013)

So is the FDA saying that long term use of nicotine only (as in NRT), has very little adverse health effects?

My wife always forgives me when she is wrong.

Yes it would appear that is exactly what they are saying.

And this appears to be a significant about face.

However it also may be saying that they concede the 'approved' NRT products are not that effective in removing ones dependence on nicotine and therefore to keep the funds rolling to Big Pharma it is now ok to keep paying for their products indefinitely...

(Just the skeptic in me I guess)

However from an e-cig point of view it would have to give FDA approval (as a side effect) to vaping with nicotine indefinitely (with your doctor's approval of course)

An informative search on teeth and jaw damage using nicotine gum long term however does reveal some potential problems with some 'approved' NRT delivery systems - along with anecdotal hair loss...
