Illvapes is being sued by Hana Modz

Not sure if this is the right place to post this sorry if it's not. But this is the first time I've seen a manufacturer suing a store over selling clones.

Looks like they cant go after the maker of the clones so they are going after the reseller to me.

Looks like Illvapes is being sued by Hana Modz. : electronic_cigarette

given that smaller mobs like atmomixani simply can't afford the admin cost of filing for copyrights, I'm surprised the Chinese haven't sued them yet for using the brandname "nemesis"

Laws make as much sense to me as a chocolate teapot

Some of the clone manufacturers are capable of putting out awesome products..

I don't know why they don't just make their own gear TBH

V3tronix have been doing similar things with regards to clones of the v3 flip mod.

That's exactly right. Some of the clones I have seen would still be decent for the price if they made their own design and called them something different.
Bottom line though, they want to profit from somebody elses work. A clone will always fetch more customers as people are buying them based on their desire for the original, they just don't want to pay full price, for whatever reason that may be.

Ive always wondered why they put the other companies logo on there. Its obvious its a clone, putting the Hana trademark on there was unnecessary and its whats getting them sued. The same applied to all clones. Copying is one thing but putting the trademarks on there is bound to piss off the original producers imo.

Because it is so much easier and cheaper to steal someone else's idea if there are no repercussions. If they were to make there own gear they would need a R&D team which would cost time and money and the prices wouldn't be anywhere as cheap as they are now.

Hopefully this means there'll be a trend starting for clone manufacturers to stop putting knocked off logos on things. A move towards logo-less clones would be good.

... Oh, who am I kidding. They won't. It'll just cause vendors outside of China to stop stocking clones with logos on them, should Hana Mods win.

That's a fair call but I'm thinking in terms of really simple mech designs.

Some of the most revered tubes and drippers are really basic.. The GP Paps tubes aren't *really* worth the asking price IMO.. how much R&D really went into putting them together?

I definitely agree with you on intricate tank designs though
