Lets be realistic about this. This is not a direct hit against ecigs.

The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) has been happening for a long time. The crux of the matter is for complete elimination of the sale and use of tobacco products. There is a little light at the end of the tunnel. Nowhere in the articles can I see a direct mention of “Electronic Cigarettes” Vaporizers or even Nicotine.

I am not suggesting the scare tactics will not continue with regard to Normalizing and think of the children. The aim of this convention is to try and completely shut out the tobacco companies from any interaction with governments and the population.

The main downside for us is the fact that tobacco companies are on board with their version of the personal vaporizers. Not at all good.

    Article 14

Requires Parties to take effective measures
to promote cessation of tobacco use and adequate treatment
    for tobacco dependence.

Parties recognize that tobacco use is highly addictive, that
implementing tobacco dependence measures should occur
in conjunction with other effective tobacco control measures
required by the FCTC, and that treatment should be accessible
and affordable. Further, Parties agree that implementing
measures should be protected from all commercial and vested
interests of the tobacco industry and, to the extent possible,
use and strengthen existing healthcare systems. The Article 14
Guidelines identify numerous specific actions that Parties should
take to effectively implement Article 14, including the following:

Develop an infrastructure to support tobacco cessation and
tobacco dependence treatment by conducting a national
situation analysis and developing a national tobacco cessation
strategy and tobacco dependence treatment guidelines based
on the best available scientific evidence and practices.

Establish population-level approaches such as mass
communication programs and quitlines in addition to more
intensive individual treatment services, accessible and
affordable medications, and other novel approaches to
    cessation and treatment.

Monitor and evaluate all related strategies and programs.

Its the defining of e-cigarettes as tobacco products that would do most damage. This is what S.C and Stand Glantz called for in the letter they sent to W.H.O.

For example, Stan Glantz has recently called for the redefinition of all ecig accessories as tobacco products: Stan Glantz on ecig accessories

So drip-tips, tanks, hell.. even an eGo lanyard would be subjected to tobacco control, bans and taxes. I don't even consider nicotine liquids to be tobacco products, so this infuriates me 10 fold.

Yes on the face of it this is correct but it has always been S.C.'s stance that it is the involvement of big tobacco in the Vaping culture that is abhorrent to him and his ilk.

Vaping is already an established fact of life in many of the signatories to the Convention on Tobacco Control. Lets face it taxing our "Sins" will happen in some form or other. To be honest Tax is the least of the problems we face. Our problem is the system that allows these prats to steal money and sprout lies and disinformation. This is the main issue that needs to be resolved.

For every letter of disapproval sent to the WHO there are plenty who disagree.

they should have donated the 240k to me. on the back of that they could have claimed a 100% quit rate on every single $ of the donation.

would have been a media coup. they missed their opportunity now.
    Robray and Pipesub like this.
amount saved by not smoking: $lots
amount spent on vaping: $not enough
