At talks held in Melbourne on Wednesday by government-funded VicHealth, speakers warned...
Does anyone else get prickly when they read stuff like this?

'They' are organising and having 'talks' about e-cigarettes. Did they invite anyone who actually uses them, did the even inform anyone in the general public that the talks were planned so that we had an opportunity to contribute? And an opportunity to hear what they were saying about the devices and those of us who use them? Why don't we ever get any sort of opportunity or invitation to express our knowledge and opinions in these 'talks', on something which has a direct effect on our lives.

Why do they presume to have the right to do this kind of thing when we are the ones paying their wages? It's time they were reminded that they are paid by us to serve us, not lord it over us and dictate to us on subjects they have no direct experience of.

    Wankers.

This latest "talks without consultation" is just another example of what happens when the tyrants in power have an active disdain for the population they are supposed to be looking out for.

But hey, at least they're being obvious and transparent that their only interest is in seeing how far they can kneel down to fellate the appendage of big business, so that when their term is up they can move across to an upper management position and go at it full time (while getting their CPI indexed, non-means tested, non-age restricted pension for life on the side, of course).

It's all he's got left. It's not credible to state it's anywhere near as harmful as cigs, the data from the UK show it's more effective than NRT (and as we get data on relapse prevention this evidence will, IMHO, get stronger) and there is no gateway effect detected. There _is_ a lot of dual use, but this is not a bug, but a feature, recruiting smokers away from cigs gradually who would have never contemplated quitting otherwise.

I have a contact with someone who was there, and it wasn't all anti-vaping. The data from Robert West was presented about the positive experience in the UK, and Ron Borland and Wayne Hall and Chris Bullen all presented in favour of tobacco harm reduction through vaping.

Some of those names seem like good guys who've done some interesting work. Thanks for mentioning their contributions, it made me think about how it's probably better to focus on the people with influence who can be a support for vaping rather than always attacking those who we feel are against us.

Attacking and ranting doesn't always show us in a good light, nor open the channels of communication so that we may actually be listened to. All it does is put them on the defensive.
