Does the Western Australian State Liberal Government support the use of Tobacco alternatives such as electronic cigarettes? If not, why?

WA Health Minister Kim Hanes - No. There are established methodologies to assist people in stopping cigarette smoking, which is clearly detrimental to your health. Part of the process of stopping smoking is to stop the habit of sticking a cigarette in your mouth. Use of electronic cigarettes is therefore of little help.

Yet they will still sell those shit nicorette inhalers.

One rule for them one rule for the rest. Then again if I was lining this bitches pockets with millions of dollars I am sure it would be a different story.

Does he take into account that not ALL smokers actually want to stop? And perhaps e-cig is a healthier way to continue something they enjoy?
How about alcohol? It's a poison, yet most people wouldn't want to stop that.

Kim, would you like a broom for that sweeping statement?

Obviously saving lives and saving millions of dollars for the government in healthcare costs is not important for this health minister.

Well I think we are all forgetting the most important fact here.

There aint no vaper in hell that is going to pay this woman millions of dollars to tell the public otherwise.

How can we compete with the fat wallets of the producers of the nicorette range? These politicians would miss out on all those lovely dinner nights and complimentary holidays.

how stupid is the general public, seems like the gov has run out of logical arguments and is down to banning stuff cause it looks like smoking, regardless of the outcome.
Basically I think we HAVE to challenge this notion of ecigs being denoted a poor cousin to traditional NRT, if proven to be a more effective quit aid they are going to have some pretty fancy talking to find more negatives than what they have.
A large part of the gov backlash can be blamed on the original marketting, calling them electronic cigarettes is in hindsight a stupid move but its likely they never would have got off the ground, some other name would be more appropriate to distance it from smoking even further.

What a joke. 70% success rate for smokeless compared to 7% with NRT and less than 1% of the harm of smoking, yet it's no use since you are still putting something in your mouth.

So I guess the nicotine inhalers is going to be banned soon? How about "toothpicks are not a safe or suitable alternative to smoking".

It didn't say anything about stopping smoking in the question!
