A constant ad on my Facebook - I wondered what it was about.....

Obviously I google a fair bit of vaping stuff and get some feeds from Facebook from international Vape Orgs. I was getting really annoyed cause I kept seeing this "Help quit smoking", "Tobacco tax increase" "nailquitting.com.au" advertisements down the right hand side of my page.

So I decided to have a look.

    This is where it lead.

Quit smoking with the help from your doctor

    Basically a Pfizer ad.

Notice the banner "Smokers Pay $7.85 billion in tax per year yet rack up $31.5 billion in social health and economic costs." Notice they mention the yearly tax paid but don't say per year for the costs statement. What a load of shit. Misleading advertising if ever I've seen it.

I'm just sick to death of seeing these ads. I've quit so F Off.

I downloaded a plug in for Chrome browser called "ad block +". Get in, and rid all ads from your browsing experience

Thanks heaps tb, I've just done it and the ad's are gone. It took literally 5 seconds and is free. You've made not only my week but my month I reckon. Cheers.

I was so grateful, the developer that gave it to me then asked kindly for a donation for his work. I gave him $5 US. Well worth it I think.

The tax figure is pretty accurate but the 'social and economic cost' per year that actually come out of those taxes is close to 80 times lower than the figure quoted. That includes trying to calculate loss of productivity from smoke breaks and other techniques used to inflate the figure as much as possible.

People might question the governments motives knowing could pay for the 'social and economical cost' of smokers 20 times over each year. What a racket.

Two sides to this, I use ad block +
    1. Why should I pay excess download charges for ads.
    2. I missed this ad, so I missed the chance of taking Facebook to task for false advertising.

They're wrong, the cost of smoking is actually 6.05 trillion dollars per mollusk.

See - I can make up bullsh*t as well!
