Possible solution to some of the problems

I remember reading an article a while ago now in which the argument was made that it was all very well stating that e-cigs were safer than cigarettes but that the industry itself had to take some responsibility and fund research to prove that this was the case.

The problem as I see it is that "the industry" is not some mega-corporation who can hand out millions for research willy-nilly, but mostly just a bunch of little companies (unless there IS some industry association sitting on buckets of money, but I doubt it).

I've been thinking about this. I think a possible solution would be to fund some research via a kickstarter. Manufacturers and resellers of e-cig products would be obvious targets to contribute, but I've got a feeling that given how passionate vapers are about this that a considerable amount could be raised from the community.

You'd need the right people to run it, and a good idea of what the research money would be spent on, and possibly the research team picked out, preferably one with no bias either way. I think the basics of what sort of chemicals are taken in by the body and various effects on the lungs in vapers vs. smokers would be a good starting point.

    What do people think?

When life throws you lemons, vape lemonade.

I like simple. If it's not simple, I don't like it.

    This is happening right now:

    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/e...of-evaporation

Individuals as well as manufacturers and vendors have been contributing to that project

Probably easier to just give all the money to a vendor and hope they sort it out.

And when the results of crowd funded studies are released the industry does SFA about it.

The temp studies might sell a few DNA40's though.

Yep, every penny spent funding Farsalinos is a worth a hundred dollars. He's a respected cardiologist and has some sway even with the pharma-paid media. They can't ignore him.

Farsalinos was the only expert to quickly come out and debunk the Japan 10x carcinogens scare story. We had to wait 8 days for the Daily Mail to retract that story, and that's why we need people like Farsalinos to quickly hose them down.
