Cancer Council - Appallingly Misinformed, or Lying?

E-cigarettes popular among adolescents, not long-term smokers, Cancer Council warns - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

"It seems the major take up is among people who aren't long term addicted tobacco smokers."
    -Paul Grogan

Check out the use of language here:

"People are mixing these up themselves... I can't think of any parent who would want to think of their adolescent kids cooking this stuff up and sucking it straight into their lungs."
    -Paul Grogan

The Cancer Council is concerned that a large amount of misinformation is being generated about electronic cigarettes.
    That's an understatement if I ever heard one......except I don't think that's quite what he meant.....lol

    And this
Mr Grogan said it was difficult to believe that e-cigarettes could be helping people to decrease their nicotine use.
That's the whole point you moron, it's incinerating tobacco with all the resulting carcinogens we're trying to give up more than nicotine.

Someone publishes a survey based study in Poland and now it's the cancer council and public health's favourite thing in the world.

"These things are a device that are being promoted to reduce the harms of tobacco smoke for long-term cigarette smokers, but it seems the major take up is among people who aren't long-term addicted tobacco smokers."

This is what pissed me off most in that article. That's just an opinion he (Paul Grogan) pulled out of his ass with no studies to back it up.

I tweeted my feelings about that statement to the Cancer Council. It wouldn't hurt if others tweeted their opinions.

I don't see how an uptake by non-long term smokers is such a bad thing anyway. They're getting off tobacco and on to a reduced harm option BEFORE major health damage is done. That's a GOOD THING. It means that ecigs have directly prevented that person from getting a smoking related illness.

Do they want people to exchange smoking tobacco for a reduced harm option only after they've already done major health damage or something?

    I have some things.
    I vape them.
